If the skill or spell would have no gold cost due to newbie advantages, exp is saved, otherwise the gold cost of the training is reduced.

However, actual testing has revealed that if the skill or spell would have no gold cost due to newbie advantages, nothing is saved, otherwise the gold and exp cost of the training is reduced. Status: Reported to the wizstaff
